RECTOR’s MESSAGE

Welcome to Yezin Agricultural University (YAU), Myanmar.

 

With the 70 percent rural population, 60 percent of Myanmar workforce is in agriculture and contributing 30 percent of the GDP. The requirement of human capacity and technical expertise for this important national agriculture is fulfilled by State Agricultural Institutes (SAIs) and Yezin Agricultural University (YAU). Yezin Agricultural University (YAU) is the only one institute offering higher agricultural education in Myanmar. Annually, 300 freshmen who completed matriculation exam are given admission to YAU. The bridging program between SAIs and YAU also allows 75 outstanding SAI diploma holders to join third year class and proceed with YAU degree. Thus, 400 graduates are approximately produced by YAU every year. YAU practices semester credit system which allows the students to finish the courses once the credit hours are completed. Semester credit system allows the students choice of courses, opportunity to clear the backlog in subject(s) by repeating that particular subjects in the following semester or replacement with another subject that prevents students to repeat the whole school year, Student Centered Approach that encourages regular 2-3 self-study hours for every hour of course taken, among the many great benefits. In addition to the academic service, YAU also provides sport facilities for soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, badminton, cane ball/ foot volley, and chess etc. in nurturing the future good leaders of Myanmar.
