The Division of Postharvest Technology is for assess and quantify postharvest losses of various agri-horticultural commodities in the existing supply chain and identifies major contributing factors to the postharvest losses and the available technological interventions to counter/ contain the same. This division is provided to reduce postharvest losses of the agri-horticultural produce to enhance the profitability of the stakeholders of the supply chain. Impart need-based training in identified areas like- postharvest management and value addition of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables.
• Development and adoption of rice technology, standardization of seed production technology and farmer’s participatory seed production
• Breeding for Climate Smart Rice (CSR) utilizing marker assisted selection for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses
• Rice bio-fortification with iron, zinc and pro-vitamin A
• Pre-breeding and participatory breeding for enhancing genetic efficiency and genetic diversity
