Species Exploration of Agromyzid Leaf Miners and Their Parasitoids in Intensive Cultivated Aera of Nay Pyi Taw

Abstract

The species exploration of leaf mining flies and their parasitoids was conducted during winter season 2017 and 2018.The study sites were Naungbinthar village, Kyee Inn village and Sebin village from Pyinmana Township and Yezin Agricultural University (YAU) farm from Zeyarthiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw. Ten leafminer infested leaves were randomly collected from cucumber, ridged gourd, okra, string bean, tomato, watermelon, muskmelon, eggplant, cowpea, snake gourd, bottle gourd and French bean at farmers’ fields. Three agromyzid leafminer species (Liriomyza sativae Blanchard, Liriomyza strigata Meigen and Liriomyza pusilla Meigen) were recorded during study period. Among them, Liriomyza sativae was observed as dominant species. Three leafminer’s parasitoids species Opius sp. (Braconidae) , Eulophidae and Figitidae were identified and recorded from the study sites. Opius sp. was observed as dominant species during the study period from all study sites.
